What causes stomach ache?

Some of the common causes are:

  • Stress and anxiety can cause the brain to send messages to the bowel which result in contraction of the muscles in the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Eating fatty or deep fried take away food, consuming too much alcohol or caffeine.
  • Skipping meals and eating on the run can upset the rhythm of peristalsis and cause cramps.
  • Some people are more sensitive to spicy or acidic food.
  • Changes in lifestyle or routine such as travel.
