VagiTest

VagiTestWhat is VagiTest?

VagiTest is a device made up of a pH swab mounted in a plastic applicator. After the swab is moistened with vaginal secretions the pH level can be determined by comparing the colour on the swab to the colour guide shown on the sachet.

Why should I use VagiTest?

Women frequently suffer from symptoms of vaginal discharge, odour and itching or burning. VagiTest can help determine whether vaginal discharge is due to a disruption of the natural pH balance. VagiTest can not detect a yeast infection because yeast can survive in low pH and usually do not cause an increase in pH. Measuring vaginal pH is one of the tests your doctor may perform and with VagiTest you can measure your own pH levels conveniently at home.

How to read the pH test results.

Read the result immediately after removing the vaginal tester, while the pH swab is still moist. Compare the colour of the pH swab with the pH Interpretation Scale on the foil sachet and note the value on the colour scale that is most similar to the pH level you have measured. After reading, you may dispose of the used tester with the regular household waste.

Important: If the pH swab does not display a uniform colour after the test has been performed, this is an indication that the test has not been performed properly. A possible cause is that the pH swab was not sufficiently moistened with vaginal secretion. If this is the case, you can perform the measurement again with the same vaginal tester. However, you may also use a new test if preferred.

What does the result mean?

If you have vaginal symptoms and a high pH (pH 4.7 and above):
The disruption in pH may be causing symptoms and a treatment to regulate the vaginal pH may be required. VagiCare, a product available at your pharmacy may be used to regulate the pH. VagiCare is clinically proven to regulate and maintain the natural pH balance of the vagina. It provides natural protection and helps relieve the symptoms of high vaginal pH by promoting normal vaginal flora (lactobacillus). If symptoms still persist see your healthcare professional.

If you have vaginal symptoms and a normal pH (pH 4.0 to 4.4):
A yeast infection may be causing symptoms. Seek the advice of your healthcare professional.
