How to use OvuPlan Scope

You should refrain from smoking, drinking, eating and brushing your teeth for at least 3 hours before using OvuPlan Scope to ensure an accurate image. The best time to test is first thing in the morning before having breakfast and brushing your teeth.

Step 1 Open the outer case.
Step 2 Tilt the microscope lens unit away from the device.
Step 3 Dip a clean finger into the pool of saliva under your tongue and touch the end of the drop to the saliva specimen plate. This will transfer the saliva. Try not to overflow or smear the surface and ensure there are no bubbles of saliva on the lens.
Step 4 Leave the saliva to dry for 10 minutes. The patterns will only appear in dry saliva. A sample which has been exposed to air for too long may not produce an accurate pattern.
Step 5 Tilt the microscope lens unit back into the device.
Step 6 Hold the device to your eye and press the light switch. Rotate the eyepiece to focus the image until the pattern is clear.
Step 7 Compare the image to the ones shown in this leaflet and record your results in the chart.
Step 8 Tilt the microscope lens unit away from the device as per Step 2 and clean the saliva specimen plate with the enclosed lens cleaning cloth.
Step 9 Tilt the microscope lens unit back into the device and close the outer case. The lens cleaning cloth can be stored inside the unit.
